Thiago Alves comeback trail, take two.
The former welterweight number one contender returned to the Octagon earlier this year following an extended injury absence, and looked pretty damn good in the process. Alves (20-9) took home a convincing unanimous decision win over the gritty Seth Baczynski at UFC on FOX 11 in Orlando, Florida.
But the competition isn't getting any easier.
Scheduled to face him at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 49 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which takes place on Aug. 23, 2014 inside BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is dangerous Canadian "Young Gun," Jordan Mein (28-9). The Strikeforce import also grabbed a win last April in the "Sunshine State" by outpointing Hermani Perpetuo.
Who takes it?
Also announced for UFC Fight Night 49 was a flyweight fracas pitting Timothy Elliot against Wilson Reis, while Tom Niinimaki and Chas Skelly hook 'em up in featherweight action.
