It appears World Series of Fighting (WSOF) has found its destination for the promotion's eleventh event and first to be aired on NBC.
WSOF 11 already had a target date of July 5, 2014, but a city and venue had yet to be picked. According to sources close to the situation, the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, will serve as host for the card that will feature a lightweight title fight between champion, Justin Gaethje and Nick Newell.
This will be the third trek to the "Sunshine State" for the company. WSOF 6 took place at The BankUnited Center Arena in Coral Gables, and WSOF 8 took place at The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood.
The other two fights that have already been announced for the card are the trilogy showdown between Jon Fitch and Josh Burkman and Melvin Guillard making his WSOF debut against Gesias Cavalcante.
The Ocean Center opened in 1985 and seats between 6,176 and 9,440 depending on configuration. Die-hard wrestling fans will be happy to know the third annual WCW "Bash at the Beach" took place there in 1996, the night Hulk Hogan famously turned heel and birthed the beginning of the NWO.
Tickets to go on sale next Saturday, June 7, starting at $39.
MMAmania will have updates on fight announcements for the rest of the WSOF 11 fight card as they become available.
