Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) knows it has a good rivalry on its hands and wasted little time in exploiting it, taking to the internet on Monday night to announce a bantamweight battle pitting Bethe Correia against Shayna Baszler at the upcoming UFC 176 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Aug. 2, 2014, inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
And the "Queen of Spades" will be looking for revenge.
That's because Correia (8-0) upended Jessamyn Duke at the UFC 172 event last month in "Charm City." After jamming "The Gun" on the FOX Sports 1 "Prelims," the Brazilian set her sights on the rest of the "Four Horsewomen," comprised of Duke, Baszler, UFC women's champion Ronda Rousey and regional sensation Marina Shafir.
The win for "The Pitbull" marked her second inside the Octagon, after turning away Julie Kedzie last December.
Baszler (15-8) hasn't been seen since her stint on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18, where she was thwarted by eventual show winner Julianna Pena. The submission specialist was previously doing work under the Invicta FC banner, falling to fellow UFC import Alexis Davis just over a year ago.
She's got a fairly stiff test in her ZUFFA debut.
UFC 176 will be headlined by a featherweight rematch pitting reigning 145-pound champion Jose Aldo against ruthless division number one contender Chad Mendes, in a rematch from their UFC 142 title fight in Brazil, in which "Junior" won by first-round knockout.
More on that fight here.
