Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will send Ricardo Lamas back into the 145-pound mix when he tangles with Hacran Dias as part of the UFC Fight Night 44 mixed martial arts (MMA) event scheduled for June 28, 2014, inside AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, on Fight Pass and FOX Sports 1.
UFC announced the featherweight scrap on Sunday night.
Lamas (13-3) is fresh off a unanimous decision loss to reigning division kingpin Jose Aldo in New Jersey. Coming up short against "Junior" snapped a four-fight winning streak, one that included finishes over fellow contenders Cub Swanson and Erik Koch.
Can he "Bully" his way back into the title hunt?
Not if Dias (21-2) has anything to say about it. The Brazilian was knocking on the door of a title shot himself, until he ran into Nik Lentz last year on FX, going down on points to "The Carny" and sacrificing a nine-fight winning streak in the process.
Back to the drawing board.
Aside from the featherweight headliner between Cub Swanson and Jeremy Stephens (more on that here), The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum gets busy with Nicholas Musoke in welterweight action, while Johnny Bedford locks horns with Rani Yahya in their "Brutal" 135-pound rematch.
