Floyd Mayweather defeated Marcos Maidana via majority decision (114-114, 117-111, 116-112) last night (Sat., May 3, 2014) in the main event of "The Moment" pay-per-view (PPV) at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It didn't come easy and, in fact, some will argue it shouldn't have come at all, including Maidana, who argued in the post-fight interview that he felt he won the fight and it's now his right to grant "Money" a rematch, of which Mayweather said he was open to "if the fans want to see it again." There's no question it was a close bout, with Maidana legitimately providing a difficult challenge for the greatest boxer on the planet. His pressure game -- an all out blitz of hard overhand rights and borderline dirty tactics -- were enough to frustrate Mayweather early; however, "Money," as he usually does, took over late. Make no mistake about it, Maidana tested the WBC welterweight champion. He tested Mayweather's resolve and in the end found the pound-for-pound best rose to the challenge.
