We're just minutes away from "The Moment;" therefore, let's take a look at what got us here.

The Showtime boxing pay-per-view (PPV) boxing co-main event tonight (Sat., May 3, 2014) from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, saw Amir Khan make his Welterweight debut against Luis Collazo, a long-time veteran of the division and consummate spoiler.

Despite a few point deductions and knockdowns, the fight was a rather humdrum affair. In short, Collazo had no answer for Khan's speed and spent the majority of the fight trudging forward with his hands down in an attempt to bait an opening that never came.

Khan put him down with a counter right hand in the second, then with a body shot in round 10, followed by a left hook as Collazo was looking to his corner for a grand total of three. In addition, Collazo lost a point in the eighth round because of a groin shot, only for Khan to lose a point because of holding later that same round.

Khan walked away with a unanimous decision on scores of 117-106 and 119-104 (twice). This could potentially earn Khan a crack at the winner of tonight's main event.

The second PPV bout featured Adrien Broner in his first bout since getting trucked by Marcos Maidana, taking on unheralded John Molina. Despite Broner being a sizeable favorite, Molina gave him a very good fight, staying in his face all night.

I don't want to talk about it more because I am seriously peeved. Broner literally picked up and threw Molina to the mat in the second round and spent the fight throwing much fewer punches than his opponent and constantly taunting him. He won on absolutely garbage scores of 99-91, 98-92, and 100-90. Put this man against Lucas Matthysse; I don't want to see his stupid face again if it's not getting beat in.

In the opening bout of the evening, Team Mayweather's J'Leon Love faced Marco Antonio Periban, last seen going to a draw with Love teammate Badou Jack. The excitement followed something of a bell curve, as the first four rounds consisted of both men jabbing with the occasional Periban flurry against the ropes. In the fifth, however, Periban rocked Love badly with a right straight, eventually forcing him to take a knee despite Love holding on for dear life.

Love showed some life in the sixth round, landing some powerful punches and -- despite never rocking Periban -- laid down a solid beating, opening up a big cut over the Mexican's left eye. From then on, though, the fight devolved back into Love jabbing and circling while Periban's power punches fell just short. It wasn't a pleasant performance to watch, but Love walked away with the unanimous decision on scores of 95-93, 97-92, 96-93.
