Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has rubber stamped a heavyweight headliner for its upcoming UFC Fight Night 52 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, as Mark Hunt will collide with Roy Nelson inside the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on Sept. 20, 2014.
Heavy. Leather.
Hunt (9-8-1) recently fought to a bloody draw against Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva at UFC Fight Night 33 last December in Australia. Prior to that, the 40-year-old "Super Samoan" had his four-fight win streak snapped by Junior dos Santos at UFC 160.
He's only one or two knockouts away from getting back into the title mix.
Nelson (20-9), meanwhile, recently ended his two-fight skid at UFC Fight Night 39 by knocking out Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in Abu Dhabi. Planishing "Minotauro" got "Big Country" back into the win column after dropping consecutive fights to Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier, respectively.
Any chance this bangfest makes it to the scorecards?
No other fights have been announced for the promotion's return to Japan; however, Alistair Overeem has expressed interest in coming on board.
Expect more fight card updates in the coming weeks.
