UFC 173 results: Daniel Cormier submits Dan Henderson in dominant win

"Watch out, Jon Jones; I'm coming and I'm only getting better."

Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The co-main event of tonight's (Sat., May 24, 2014) UFC 173: "Barao vs. Dillashaw" pay-per-view (PPV) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, featured Daniel Cormier hoping to maintain his status as top contender in the light heavyweight division by disposing of grizzled veteran Dan Henderson.

Mission accomplished.

He went above and beyond the call of duty, actually. Cormier absolutely dominate this fight from bell to bell, completely controlling the bout from pillar to post.

He stood up to "Hendo's" right hand -- albeit for only one punch or two -- while firing off a few of his own. He took Dan down at will and had his way with him once he got him there. It got so bad, in fact, that Henderson completely gassed, got his back taken in the final frame, and ended up going to sleep against his will via rear-naked choke.

This was a very impressive victory from one of the best fighters in the world at 205-pounds.

"Jon Jones, you can't run away from me forever," Cormier said in the post-fight interview.

Indeed.
