Top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight Dustin Poirier is going to enjoy the summer off, as the promotion has asked him to kick back and relax until the conclusion of UFC Fight Night 46 inside the O2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland, on July 19, 2014.
That's because "The Diamond" will be paired off against Conor McGregor, if the "Notorious" trash talker is able to defeat submission specialist Cole Miller in the Fight Pass main event. If "Magrinho" prevails, however, then Poirier will be paired off with someone else, since he trains with the former Ultimate Fighter at American Top Team.
MMA Fighting reported the plans on Wednesday night.
Poirier (16-3) has won three straight fights at 145 pounds, including back-to-back knockout wins over Diego Brandao and Akira Corassani. He's currently ranked at No. 6 in the division and could find himself back in the title hunt by year's end.
McGregor, meanwhile, is 2-0 inside the Octagon (14-2 overall) and is ranked No. 13.
