Nobody wants to play with Jon Fitch.
The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight number one contender is now seeking his third opponent for the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 11 event, scheduled for July 5, 2014, after opponent and fellow UFC import Jake Shields was forced to bow out due to injury.
MMA Fighting reported the line up change on Wednesday night.
Shields is now the second opponent to bail on Fitch, who was originally paired off against Rousimar Palhares for the promotion's 170-pound title. Unfortunately, "Toquinho" instead opted to take himself out of action to care for his sick mother in Brazil, which effectively "screwed" the promotion.
WSOF is currently seeking a replacement for Fitch for the July mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which has yet to secure a venue or official location. We'll be sure to bring you those details just as soon as they're made available.
Stay tuned!
