Gray Maynard returns, fights Fabricio Camoes at UFC 176 on Aug. 2 in Los Angeles

"The Bully" is back!

Joe Camporeale-US PRESSWIRE

Gray Maynard will return to the Octagon after nearly eight months on the sidelines when he collides with struggling 155-pound Brazilian Fabricio Camoes at the upcoming UFC 176 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Aug. 2, 2014, inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

UFC announced the pairing on Tuesday morning.

Maynard (11-3) has been riding the pine since last November, when he suffered a technical knockout loss to fellow Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5 veteran Nate Diaz. It was the second straight loss for "The Bully" and capped off a dismal run of 1-3-1 dating back to 2010.

Once considered the second best lightweight in the world, Maynard could be fighting to stay employed.

The same holds true for Camoes (14-8-1), who also came up short in his last two fights. After Melvin Guillard outworked him at UFC 148 in July 2012, "Morango" was submitted by Jim Miller (armbar) at the UFC 168 event last December. His Octagon record is 1-3-1.

And this is the Brazilian's second stint with ZUFFA.

UFC 176 will be headlined by a featherweight rematch pitting reigning 145-pound champion Jose Aldo against ruthless division number one contender Chad Mendes, in a rematch from their UFC 142 title fight in Brazil, in which "Junior" won by first-round knockout.
