Jon Fitch vs. Jake Shields co-headliner set for WSOF 11, Guillard vs. Cavalcante joins July 5 main card

Two more fights have been added to WSOF 11, and they include plenty of familiar faces making their debut for the Las Vegas, Nevada-based mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion.

No "Toquinho?" No problem.

World Series of Fighting (WSOF) has booked an intriguing welterweight scrap between Jon Fitch and Jake Shields to co-headline its upcoming WSOF 11 event, which goes down at a yet-to-be determined venue on July 5, 2014.

The match up came to be after division champion, Rousimar Palhares, bowed out of his title fight against Fitch in order to care for his ailing mother.

A move that drew the ire of the WSOF higher ups.

No fret, as Shields has agreed to step up to the plate and face his former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) colleague in what will mark his promotional debut. While the contest isn't necessarily a make them or break them fight, a win for either of them is crucial for their combat sports careers.

In addition, another UFC castoff, Melvin Guillard, will make his promotional debut as he takes on longtime veteran Gesias Cavalcante in a lightweight scrap that is sure to provide fireworks.

Melvin was last seen in action against Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 37 earlier this year. A performance that didn't exactly thrill company president Dana White and eventually led to his release.

Cavalcante, meanwhile, hasn't seen action in nine months, when he knocked out Tyson Griffin at WSOF 4 last August.

The Blackzilian has been hot and cold over the last six years, and a win over an established vet like "The Young Assassin" -- his former teammate -- will give him his first back-to-back wins since 2007.

WSOF 11 will be headlined by by Justin Gaethje as he defends his 155-pound title against fellow undefeated (11-0) fighter, Nick Newell.

Someone's 0 will indeed go.
