The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight division went into the shop for repairs last week after the UFC 172 pay-per-view (PPV) event on April 26, 2014, in Baltimore, Maryland (results here). That's where two significant wins at 205 pounds forced the top 10 to be shaken up and spilled out, straight-up Yahtzee style.
Jon Jones blew away Glover Teixeira in the night's main event, while Anthony Johnson upset the apple cart with a unanimous decision win over Phil Davis. Neither fight was competitive after the opening minutes and sent two men tumbling down the division ladder.
Where did they land?
The SB Nation rankings panel -- compiled by MMAmania.com, MMA Fighting and Bloody Elbow -- recently reshuffled its list of top light heavyweight MMA fighters for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and beyond to close out the month of April.
Here's what they came up with:
1. Jon Jones
2. Alexander Gustafsson
3. Rashad Evans
4. Daniel Cormier
5. Glover Teixeira
6. Anthony Johnson
7. Phil Davis
8. Dan Henderson
9. Chael Sonnen
10. Ryan Bader
Somehow Chael Sonnen is a "top 10 fighter," despite a light heavyweight record of just 1-2 with two spectacular technical knockout losses. Shame on you, Alex Giardini. Then we have the 205-pound coffee grinder, Daniel Cormier, who ... oh nevermind.
