Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) delivered a solid mixed martial arts (MMA) card with UFC Fight Night 40, which took place earlier this month (May 10, 2014) in Cincinnati, Ohio, featuring a wild welterweight main event between Matt Brown and Erick Silva.
And with a solid card comes solid ratings.
"Brown vs. Silva" scored an average viewership of 655,000, according to the gang over at MMA Payout, with a 0.55 household rating for males 18-49. That's up from the last live event on FOX Sports 1 which featured Michael Bisping losing to Tim Kennedy in front of 641,000 viewers.
The FOX Sports Live post-fight coverage averaged an impressive 352,000 viewers.
Silva and Brown put on a hell of a show, with "Indio" nearly finishing "Immortal" in the first round. Brown stormed back, though, in savage fashion, putting his stamp on the Brazilian the rest of the way and sending him out of U.S. Bank Arena, on a stretcher.
