Well ... that certainly didn't go according to plan.
Will Brooks is the new Bellator interim lightweight champion after securing a narrow, split-decision win over Michael Chandler in the co-main event of the Bellator 120: "Rampage vs. King Mo" pay-per-view (PPV) event, which took place last Saturday night (May 17, 2014) inside Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi.
See out post-fight recap here.
"Ill" Will was a late replacement for injured lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, who was sidelined indefinitely following a nasty concussion sustained in training camp. Assuming the champ can get his groove back at some point this year, he's likely to make his first title defense against Brooks.
As for Chandler, it's back to the drawing board.
