Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney is opening up about the upcoming Bellator 120 pay-per-view (PPV) debut this Saturday night (May 17, 2014), as "Rampage vs. King Mo" is all set for Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi. Quinton Jackson battles Muhammed Lawal in the main event to determine the season 10 light heavyweight tournament winner.
That's not all.
Rebney spoke to MMA Fighting about the magnitude of this card in regards to Bellator's history, saying it's "probably the biggest card ever." The promotion tried its luck in booking a PPV event before with Bellator 106, but Tito Ortiz's injuries forced the organization to pull the plug just days ahead of the scheduled event.
Speaking of "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy," the Bellator boss was worried he would get a call from Ortiz saying he had to pull out of his scheduled contest, and he also shed some light on why he thinks Ortiz's bout against Alexander Shlemenko is a "freak show" fight.
"I love the fight. I love the fight for that reason, I've called it a freak show and people say, 'Why you do you call it a freak show?' Because it is a weird fight, and we don't get the chance to do that. We got the tournament format where a 205er fights a 205er. If I put Tito against some 205er you and I picked out of a hat in the top 25 or 30 in the world, I think everybody would have gone womp, womp, womp. But Shlemenko brings this weird intrigue to it."
