UFC Fight Night 40 results: Costas Philippou knocks out Lorenz Larkin in Cincinnati

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) wanted to set off fireworks when it booked Lorenz Larkin vs. Constantinos Philippou for the middleweight co-main event of UFC Fight Night 40 on FOX Sports 1, which took place on Sat. night (May 10, 2014) inside the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Both fighters came out swinging with bad intentions and Philippou hurt Larkin early in the fight; however, "The Monsoon" was able to weather the storm and actually dropped a few bombs of his own. Unfortunately, they were unable to slow his attacker.

Philippou, who said he "went numb" after eating a few shots, delivered a crisp lights-out combination that put Larkin on ice. It was a much-needed win for Philippou, who snaps a two-fight losing streak and stays alive in the crowded 185-pound division.

For Larkin, it's back to the drawing board.
