Official UFC rankings updated after UFC on FOX 11: Fabricio Werdum claims top spot, 'The Eagle' soars to No. 5

After pummelling Travis Browne on the feet this past weekend at UFC on FOX 11, Fabricio Werdum is directly behind Cain Velasquez in the heavyweight rankings, breathing down the champion's neck until the stage is set for them to meet in Mexico.

Let's get down to business with the movers and shakers.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) released another set of rankings on Monday afternoon (April 21, 2014) directly after UFC on FOX 11: "Werdum vs. Browne" this past Saturday night (April 19).

After beating up Travis Browne in the main event, Fabricio Werdum has claimed top spot in the heavyweight rankings, anticipating a set date for his battle against Cain Velasquez in Mexico (highlights here).

"Hapa" is ranked third, directly behind Junior dos Santos.

Elsewhere, Khabib Nurmagomedov surged to number five on the lightweight ladder after dominating Rafael dos Anjos this past weekend in the "prelims" main event. The Brazilian plummets three spots down to number eight.

Also, Yoel Romero stands just outside of the top 10 at middleweight, after defeating Brad Tavares, and jumps three spots to number 11.

Agree or disagree?

The rankings are always a touchy subject, since some observers feel there is no need for them.

With that being said, they will certainly shift again after this weekend's UFC 172 fight card in Baltimore, featuring a light heavyweight title fight pitting Jon Jones against Glover Teixeira.
