Dana White: 'There's no doubt Melvin Guillard ran from Michael Johnson' at UFC Fight Night 37

Well, that was a letdown.

When Michael Johnson was announced as the late injury replacement for Ross Pearson in the co main event of UFC Fight Night 37, most members of the mixed martial arts (MMA) community were licking their chops over the potential bangfest "The Menace" would have with Melvin Guillard.

Dana White included.

So it's no surprise then, to learn how disappointed the UFC president was when "The Young Assassin" spent most of their lightweight scrap on his bicycle. That's in addition to his "passive" engagement, admittedly a far cry from the explosive striker fans are used to.

White vented at the UFC Fight Night 37 post-fight press conference (watch it):

"There's no doubt Melvin ran the entire fight and was incredibly passive, the complete opposite of how he used to fight. There was a lot of smack talk leading up to that fight, and those are the fights that everybody gets excited about, and nine times out of 10 they end up like tonight. Those drive me crazy."

Johnson (15-8) won a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Guillard -- no stranger to controversy outside the cage as well as inside it -- drops to 31-13 with the loss. But more importantly, he's now just 2-5 with one "no contest" dating back to late 2011. White refused to comment on the former Ultimate Fighter's future inside the Octagon, but it certainly does not look promising.
