UFC Fight Night 37: "Gustafsson vs. Manuwa", from the O2 Arena in London, England, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four of the 18 fighters on the card. And it's probably no surprise who's heading home with a second sack of simoleons.
Errrr... pump the brakes. This is where I remind you the bonus structure has changed since these were last handed out. "Fight of the Night" will still be awarded but the best knockout and submission will no earn any extra cash. Instead, there will be two "Performance of the Night" awards dished out.
Got it? Good.
Today, the performance bonuses went to Gunner Nelson, who opened the main card with a slick submission victory over Omari Akhmedov, and Alexander Gustafsson, who knocked out Jimi Manuwa in the main event.
Gustafsson's victory was so impressive, in fact, that he was also awarded "Fight of the Night" honors. So Manuwa's night ending looking up at the lights isn't all so bad after all.
Here are the special UFC Fight Night 37 bonuses:
Performance of the Night -- Gunner Nelson
Performance of the Night -- Alexander Gustafsson
Fight of the Night -- Alexander Gustafsson vs. Jimi Manuwa
Again, each fighter received $50,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as that information becomes available.
