Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is benching The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18 finalist Davey Grant, who suffered a knee injury prior to his Roland Delorme prelims bout at UFC Fight Night 37, which was scheduled to go down tomorrow (March 8, 2014) inside the O2 Arena in London, England.
MMA Fighting has the details:
According to UFC president Dana White, Grant recently suffered a knee injury. He got an MRI to determine how serious it was, and on Friday, the UFC received the results and determined he was too injured to fight. White, who said Grant fought to remain on the card despite the injury, will pay both fighters their show money.
Grant (8-2) was able to find himself in the live finale of the combat sports reality show thanks to a weight-cutting forfeit from Anthony Gutierrez. "Dangerous" fought valiantly against the heavily-favored Chris Holdsworth, but was eventually choked out in the second round of their FOX Sports 1 affair.
His comeback has unfortunately been put on hold.
Joining him on the sidelines is fellow TUF guy Roland Delorme (9-2). The Canadian had a "Stunning" start to his ZUFFA career; however, a split-decision loss to Alex Caceres tripped him up at UFC 165 last September. It was his first defeat inside the Octagon.
He'll have to live with that memory just a little bit longer.
