Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) continues to patch a few holes in its Memorial Day Weekend fight card, as Francisco Rivera steps in to fight Takeya Mizugaki at the upcoming UFC 173 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for May 24, 2014 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The promotion announced the re-worked bantamweight brawl on Friday.
Mizugaki (19-7), who has quietly strung together four consecutive wins, was originally expected to hook 'em up against TJ Dillashaw (until this happened) but will now switch gears and bang it out against Rivera. Like his Japanese opponent, "Cisco" (10-2) has been beaten in his last four trips to the Octagon.
Who ya' got?
UFC 173 will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight featuring Renan Barao taking on TJ Dillashaw (thanks to another bite from the injury bug). Elsewhere on the card, Junior dos Santos looks to stay afloat in the 265-pound waters at the expense of Stipe Miocic.
