The Event we've all been waiting for! Bellator MMA 114 FULL Rundown

Hello folks, If you've been around here the past 2 months patrolling the comments you've probably seen me pumping up this event in particular. Although it may not seem it to the untrained eye This event is stacked.

Alexander Shlemanko is finally back defending his title, riding an astounding 12 fight win streak, since losing to UFC title contender Hector Lombard. Including a first round stoppage of Doug Marshall, two decisions over Brett cooper, among others. He will face 9-1 prospect Brennan Ward who is a serious threat to the title. This dude is a grinder, he will wear you down the whole fight and can finish as well. And at the ripe young age of 25 this dude can only get better. We've got another cold war for the Bellator title.

Speaking of Brett Cooper, he will face 13 fight UFC veteran, Show fight MW champion, and The Ultimate Fighter season 3 winner Kendall "Da Spyer" Grove in the opening round of the Bellator MW tournament. Cooper is coming off back to back losses, in which he was KO'd by Marshall, and then lost a very close fight with the Champion, but before all that he was riding a very nice 6 fight win streak. He will look to right the ship against Grove in the first fight on the Main card on SpikeTv.

Kendall Grove had a bit of a skid himself losing three in a row until finishing Danny Mitchell, and then easily outpointing Joe Vedepo to a decision in his Bellator MMA debut. Grove is a 13 fight UFC veteran, TUF 3 winner, Show fight MW champion, and holds noteable wins over, japanese legend Minowa man, Alan Belcher, jake Rosholt, Ed Herman, and the late Evan Tanner. Grove was also the last man to Defeat bellator WW contender and Fight master winner Joe riggs, who is riding a 6 fight win streak not including the show. Kendall Grove has become a new fighter since Joining Alliance MMA, training with the best of the best, he has taken to twitter to express how he missed his childs first words and steps for this sport, carrying such passion and drive to win, it'll be hard to beat him on his way to the title.

Also on the card is the final fight of a great career and one of the greatest stories in all of MMA Rad Martinez. Who will face Edson Berto on the final bout of the preliminary card. If you don't know his story I highly suggest you go watch the piece they did on him, you can find it pretty much anywhere on the internet. Best of luck to him in life beyond the sport, he really could have been one of the greats.

Other noteable names scheduled on this card include Aaron Wilkinson, Justin Wilcox, Bubba Jenkins, Jason Fischer, & Ron Keslar who is scheduled to fight Jordan smith but is subject to change because he is also scheduled to fight on the Bellator 116 card.

BREAKDOWN:

Alexander Shlemanko is the champ for a reason. He's been near unbeaten his whole career, He fights anyone and that's what you like to see out of a champion. Brennan Ward is coming in with a lot of hype a lot of momentum, and with his finishing skills and grinding style he will propose some real problems for the champion. Alexander has a good chin, but he has been rocked quite a few times, it's almost an eddie alverez situation, where he gets rocked every fight but it's so hard to actually finish him. I believe it will be a hard fought fight with a grueling pace, Shlemanko will then take him into deep waters and start to show his true championship prowess and beat him the last two rounds on way to a decision victory.

Kendall Grove is a fighter I have like for a long time, he's exciting he's passionate, but has been somewhat inconsistent. The good grove can show up or the not so good grove, either way he is always in the fight. Cooper has some power in his hands as well as good takedowns. Look for him to try and take grove down there and work for a finish, but don't count on it. Grove showed in his fight with Damian Maia that his ground game is excellent, Maia controlled him on the ground but never had him in any danger. I Think Grove stuffs most of the takedowns, has the better scrambles on the ground, and does fairly well in the standup. Expect him to utilize the clinch. I think Grove by either decision, or submission.

Desmond Green vs Will Martinez. Green was last seen outpointing Mike Richman to a decision, as well as Will Martinez upsetting the young Goiti. Prediction Green outpoints Martinez with his awkward style. Will can not dictate a pace and falls behind on the score cards. Green Decision.

Matt Bessete vs Daniel Weichel: You can last See Bessete in a barnburner with Diego Nunes, defeating him by decision. But don't expect the same production from him here. He has the confidence and momentum to beat Daniel, but I believe Weichel's experience will be too much for Bessete. Matt excels on the ground but Daniel is just that much better and controls him. Weichel Decision.

and finally, on the prelims but warrants a breakdown; Rad Martinez vs Edson Berto: I really don't think Bert has anything for Rad. There's always a chance, but this is Rad's place, his last fight, all his emotions, hard work, energy, his final fight. I think Rad presses the action and finishes Berto. Prediction: Rad Martinez tko.

Well there you have it. My rundown and breakdown of the entire event. Let me know what you think, and your predictions below. As well as who you think will win the whole MW tourney!
