UFC Quick Quote: Norman Parke expected a warning -- not a deduction -- for grabbing the shorts of Leonardo Santos

And getting docked a point forced him to settle for a majority draw.

"I knew it was a close fight. I was winning the second round. They took a point off it. I thought they'd give me a warning. If it hadn't been for that point deduction, I would have won a split decision. I should have been a wee bit more aggressive and come forward instead of letting him throw his punches at me. It was warm in there. It was tough after the first round. I was boiling up in there."

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight up-and-comer Norman Parke had to settle for a majority draw in a closely-contested scrap opposite fellow Ultimate Fighter (TUF) champ Leonardo Santos (details), which took place on the FOX Sports 1 main card of UFC Fight Night 38 last night (March 23, 2014) in Natal, Brazil. Parke (19-2) tells the cast and crew of FOX Sports that he would have been the victor, had he not been deducted one point for grabbing the Brazilian's shorts in the second round, something he believes should have warranted a warning. Like they say, never leave the fight in the hands of the judges. And never leave your shorts in the hands of your opponent. See the full UFC Fight Night 38 results and fallout here.
