Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has rubber stamped the light heavyweight grudge match between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva, now official for May 31, 2014, inside the Ibirapuera Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil, UFC officials announced at Sunday night's press conference.
That surely comes as a sigh of relief to fans who were unsure if Silva was going to sign his Wand Hancock.
Sonnen and Silva -- prematurely announced as the co-main event for UFC 173 -- are currently filming The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Brazil 3," which debuted earlier this month on the promotion's new "Fight Pass" digital network.
They were actually scheduled to hook 'em up as early as UFC 167; however, lingering back issues and a dispute over the pay-per-view (PPV) revenue kept "The Axe Murderer" in the tool shed. Sonnen stayed busy by splitting a pair of bouts between Shogun Rua (win) and Rashad Evans (loss).

No other bouts have been announced for the May 31 fight card; however, those spots are sure to fill up sooner rather than later. For more background on the "Sonnen vs. Silva" rivalry click here. To see what's been happening on TUF: "Brazil 3" click here.
