UFC Fight Night 38: "Henderson vs. Shogun 2", from Natal, Brazil, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four of the 16 fighters on the card. And it's probably no surprise who's heading home with a second sack of simoleons.
Errrr... pump the brakes. This is where I remind you the bonus structure has changed since these were last handed out. "Fight of the Night" will still be awarded but the best knockout and submission will no earn any extra cash. Instead, there will be two "Performance of the Night" awards dished out.
Got it? Good.
Today, Godofredo Pepey earned a performance bonus for his flying knee destruction of Noad Lahat in the opening bout of the evening. Then, Dan Henderson cleaned up, earning both a performance and "Fight of the Night" bonus for knocking out Shogun Rua.
The Brazilian got himself $50K, which he'll probably need to fix his busted face.
Here are the special UFC Fight Night 38 bonuses:
Performance of the Night -- Godofredo Pepey
Performance of the Night -- Dan Henderson
Fight of the Night -- Dan Henderson vs. Shogun Rua
Again, each fighter received $50,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as that information becomes available.
