One promotion's loss is another promotion's gain.

Legacy FC 29 took place last night (Fri., March 22, 2014) at The Joint inside The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma, featuring a former UFC heavyweight title challenger, alongside a former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winner.

Myron Dennis upset longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran Paul Buentello in the main event to capture the promotion's light heavyweight championship. Even though "The Headhunter" was always moving forward, the 24-year-old Dennis chopped at his legs relentlessly with kicks and kept active with his jabs, too.

The split decision win could have gone either way, with Buentello almost finishing the fight in the first round after decking Dennis.

The newly-crowned champion certainly did the damage on his opponent's legs and face, bloodying the former UFC and Strikeforce alumnus.

Buentello has his four-fight winning streak snapped, with a 6-4 record since being cut by UFC in his second stint.

TUF 12 winner Jonathan Brookins made his return to MMA, submitting Cody Fuller after hurting him badly with punches in his flyweight debut. The clean-cut Brookins snapped a two-fight losing streak, making his Legacy FC debut as well, after going 2-3 in UFC.

It was his first fight since December of 2012, when he lost to Dustin Poirier.

Also on the main card, Andrew Todhunter made Art Parker pay for not even attempting to make weight, coming in at 20 pounds over the middleweight limit. Todhunter smashed Parker with punches, taking him down easy for the rear-naked choke victory.

Oklahoma resident Jerod Spoon took his record to 7-4-1 after stopping Daniel Hauenstein with punches in the second round of their featherweight fight. His heavy hands could get him to the big show sometime soon.

Also, Leonard Garcia was supposed to defend his Legacy FC featherweight title against Shane Howell, but the latter fell ill with the flu, and their main event match up was scratched.

"Bad Boy" was able to salvage something positive in his trip, proposing to his girlfriend in the cage during the event.
