Slippery when wet!
In what has to be an incredibly frustrating turn of events, Maurice Jackson has been pulled from the Bellator 113 mixed martial arts (MMA) event scheduled to take place later tonight (March 21, 2014) inside Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas, because he took a fall at his hotel and hurt his knee.
MMA Fighting has the details:
Bellator officials informed MMA Fighting that Jackson slipped on a wet floor at the fighter hotel while getting breakfast on Friday morning. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Bellator announced on its Twitter feed that Wichita's own Fredrick Brown (4-0) has agreed to step in to face Gallemore. "Brown is a big name in the area and will be looking to cash in on a huge opportunity taking the fight on less than 12 hours notice," Bellator's Director of Communication Anthony Mazzuca tweeted Friday afternoon.
Hard not to feel bad for the guy.
Jackson (2-1) was victorious in his Bellator debut, stopping Matt Uhde in less than a minute back in October. As one of the promotion's top up-and-coming heavyweights, there's no question "The Gorilla" will get back inside the cage just as soon as he has been medically cleared to do so.
