In what may, or probably should, go down as one of the greatest knockouts in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) history, Dong Hyun Kim put John Hathaway to sleep with a spinning back elbow in the main event of yesterday's (Sat., Mar. 1, 2014) The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "China" Finale event at the CotaiArena in Macau, China.
The victory was impressive enough that pundits and fans alike are thinking it may be time for "Stun Gun" to advance up the ranks of the welterweight division into true contender fights, even if this was Hathaway's first fight in over a year and a half.
Perhaps Kim can slide into the top 10 but his wild winging style of striking, the same offense that put down "The Hitman," could prove a disadvantage the higher he climbs the 170-pound ladder. Still, after a performance like this, one that earned him an extra $50K, maybe he should at least be given the chance to show if he can hang with the top of the division.
