Johny Hendricks is the new Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion following his unanimous decision victory over Robbie Lawler in the main event of last night's (Sat., Mar. 15, 2014) UFC 171: "Hendricks vs. Lawler" pay-per-view (PPV) at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. It was a close one, and while some may dispute the decision it likely comes down to personal preference more than anything else. Many fans and pundits alike agreed with the eventual scoring from two of the judges, though no one can explain what the hell Doug Crosby was thinking. Either way, Hendricks is the champion and Lawler, despite the loss, still looks like a top contender who can earn another crack with just another win or two. He certainly won't receive an immediate rematch but at least this loss hasn't completely taken him out of the title picture. Happy?
