***UPDATE: Hendricks did make weight -- Read full details here.***
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) held weighs ins for UFC 171 earlier today (March 14, 2014), and saw all but three of the 26 fighters scheduled to compete on the card make weight, which means the 13-bout card that goes down tomorrow night in Dallas, Texas, is now official.
Well, almost.
Event headliner Johny Hendricks was 1.5 pounds over the 170-pound limit for his welterweight championship showdown opposite Robbie Lawler, who actually did make weight. "Bigg Rigg" had an hour to lose the additional baggage, which he did (read details here), much to the relief of Dana White and Co., as well as the rest of the mixed martial arts (MMA) community.
Conclusion of the weigh-ins means tomorrow night's fights are one-step closer to becoming a reality. All that remains are the winners and losers to be determined inside the Octagon live on pay-per-view.
