Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will crown a new 170-pound kingpin when it returns to "The Lone Star State" this Saturday night (March 15, 2014) at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, as the vacant welterweight title is up for grabs in a headliner contested between top division power punchers Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler.

Ooh rah!

Don't be surprised if we leave the pay-per-view (PPV) event with a new number one contender, as well, as ex-interim champ Carlos Condit gets down and dirty with Tyron Woodley, while longtime veterans Jake Shields and Hector Lombard hook 'em up for their spot in the pecking order.

Lawler with a counter right as Hendricks moves in and presses him into the cage. Knees to the legs from Hendricks. Hendricks separates, lands a left as he does so. Three minutes left. 3-2 from Robbie. Johny shoots in again, eats a left as he does so. He gets Robbie to the cage, lands a knee and a left, then separates. Leg kick from Hendricks. Robbie narrowly misses a counter. One-two from Hendricks goes just over Robbie's head. Low kick checked. One-two from Hendricks lands, then a right uppercut. Stiff jab from Robbie. Robbie continues to work the jab, misses on a left hook. One minute left. Johny flurries. Lead left by Hendricks and he follows through into a takedown attempt. Leg kick from Johny. 1-1-2 from Robbie met by a low kick. Robbie sprawls on a takedown, lands a left straight. Hendricks firing but unable to back Robbie off like he did before. One-two from Lawler, 1-2-3 hurts him. Big right hook lands and Johny smacks him with a left hook. Now Hendricks is the one advancing and lands a pair of big left hands. 1:40 to go. Round 1: Big right hand by Woodley early on backs Condit off. Another heavy right hand connects. Uet another right hand and a short left hook; Condit throwing strikes but thus far unsuccessful. Condit wheel kick does not connects, Woodley presses him into the cage. T-Wood has over-under control. Short shot by Woodley as Condit reverses, digging away at Woodley's body. Woodley knees the body and reverses position on the cage. Woodley gets double underhooks. Knee to the body. They separate with a little over two minutes left in the round. Solid left hand from Condit. Leg kick to head kick by Carlos. Condit lands an uppercut, Woodley ducks under and takes Carlos down. Woodley on top in guard. Carlos starts to lock in a triangle, Woodley postures up and dumps him off. Another huge right from Woodley, Condit answers in kind. Woodley avoids a head kick and takes Carlos back down. Woodley elects to let him up with twenty seconds to go. Another right from Tyron. Spinning elbow by Woodley. Condit ressing the advantage against the cage at the end of the round. 10-9 Woodley.

Round 2: Condit advancing as usual. Head kick blocked. Another one nearly connects with the knee. Front kick blocked. Condit avoiding the right hand, cannot avoid the takedown. Condit establishes guard. Condit with punches and elbows off his back. Ninety seconds in. Woodley inactive and the ref stands them up. Woodley lands a good right hand and something breaks in Carlos' right leg when Woodley kicks his left. Carlos falls to the ground in obvious pain and the fight is called; looks like it was first bungled on the takedown. Unfortunate ending.

Round 1: Diego throws a spinning back fist, eats a hard right cross once he finishes spinning. Diego waves Myles on. Leg kick by Diego, Myles answers just over a minute in. Jury head kick is blocked. Diego rushes in with his customary hook spam and presses Jury against the cage. Short knees by Diego. Myles reverses him and gets distance. Body kick from Jury. Diego lands a body kick, Myles catches it. Diego worms his foot free. Right to the body from Diego. Leg kick from Jury. Big counter right from Jury, Sanchez storms forward and lands a right. Diego misses on a flying front kick, lands a body kick. Another hard counter right by Jury. Glancing head kick connects. Yet another counter right hand. Diego gets aggressive, Myles ducks under and ploughs him to the ground. Myles drops a big right hand and Diego tries to grab a leg. Myles escapes and smacks him with a right. They end the round scrambling. 10-9 Jury.

Round 2: Diego connects with a good body kick, eats a pair of counters when he tries to flurry. He tries an oblique kick and Myles cracks him with a hard right hand that opens Diego up under his left eye. Diego manages to connect with a good right while stalking forward. Diego tries to wade in, eats another right. Diego whiffs on a right hook. Jury head kick blocked. Jury cracks him with a left hook. Three minutes to go. Diego with a right hand. High kick from Jury again blocked. Jury avoids a wild uppercut, pops him with a jab. Diego again tries to wade in to no avail. Good counter hook from Jury. Leg kick from Diego connects. Wild right does not. Yet another huge counter right and Myles follows it with a takedown. Diego looking for an arm-in guillotine. A minute to go. Myles gives the thumbs-up. Diego's hands are no longer connected. Myles wiggles free and drops an elbow. Diego scrambles up with thirty seconds left with Myles still attached. Diego rolls free, eats an uppercut when he gets up. Diego nearly connects with a head kick and eats a counter right at the bell. 10-9 Jury.

Round 3: Diego avoids a front kick, fails to connect with a rush. Low kick by Myles. Diego front kick glances off the body. Diego charges, lands a couple of hooks. Stiff jab by Myles. High kick blocked; four minutes to go. Diego body kick connects. Jury high kick blocked, Diego whiffs on a right hand. Diego high kick blocked. Diego connects with a body shot. Left upstairs, not much behind it. Body kick connects for Sanchez. Leg kick; halfway through the round and not much from Jury. Two more body shots. They tie up. Myles pushes Diego to the fence, tries to change levels, nothing doing. They separate; ninety seconds left. Flying knee by Jury. Diego tries to rush in and gets taken down. Jury low on Diego's hips, trying to move to side. He stands over Diego and moves into guard. Diego throwing up his legs, misses on an armbar. Round 1: The referee looks like a Bond villain. Just putting that out there.

Shields ties up quickly and gets flung to the ground by Lombard. Hector lets him back up. Jake throws a head kick, eats a big left hand and falls to his back. Hector just watches him until he gets up. Jake tries to tie up, wading through some big hooks to do so, but can't get Hector down. Minute in. Short right hook from Hector. Shields body kick blocked. Shield ducks a big left hand into a single leg, Hector denies it and pushes him into the fence. Short body punches by the Cuban. Hector hurts Jake with a right and left on the exit, Jake gets out of harm's way but is cut. Jake shoots in from to far out and gets sprawled on. Hector again flings him to the ground when he tries to stand. Jake back up. Two minutes to go. Hector blocks a head kick. One-two misses for Hector, who stops another takedown and pounds away at Shields against the cage. Jake retreats to guard after taking some heavy punches and a head kick. Jake controlling his posture. One minute left in the round. Jake throwing short punches from his back as Hector tries the can opener. Jake teases a Kimura, nothing there. Hector grinds his face with short eblows in the last seconds. 10-9 Lombard.

Round 2: Jake low kick is checked. High kick blocked. Hector flurries, doesn't connect. Shields front kicking the body. Hector lands some winging shots and hits that dramatic toss into side control. One minute in. Jake gets half guard. Jake regains full guard. Hector starts to punch the body as Jake gets the body triangle. Jake briefly looks for a guillotine. Ref stands them up just over two minutes in. Hector basically standing still and waiting for Jake to try something. Jake ducks a big left hand, gets sprawled on. Jake rolls to his back and Hector lets him up. Hector blocks a high kick. Again. Hector content to just stand still out of range. Hector hits him with a good left hand as he steps in and then violently throws him to the mat. Hector on top in side control. Jake regains guard with twenty seconds left. Round ends there. 10-9 Lombard.

Round 3: Hector blocks another high kick. Again. Jake avoids a right hook. One-two from Jake. Lombard leg kick goes straight into Jake's groin. Jake right back into it. Jake gets in on a single leg and gets sprawled on. Hactor trips him down into guard once he stands up. Short punches from Hector. Three minutes to go. Referee stands them up soon after. Shields high kick falls short. Lombard sprawls on another shot, Jake pulls half guard. Hector not doing much at all on top. Ref stands them up with a minute to go. Jake steps in with a knee; Hector uses the chance to shoot in and Jake locks up an arm-in guillotine. It looks good, but he runs out of time. 10-9 Lombard.

Final result: Lombard def. Shields by unanimous decision

Round 1: Krylov with a couple low kicks. OSP throws a blocked head kick and shoots in under Krylov's blocking arms. OSP on top in side control. Krylov trying to control the head with a guillotine grip. He holds on a bit too long and OSP puts him to sleep with a Von Flue choke. Didn't even see it coming.

Final result: St. Preyx def. Krylov by technical submission (Von Flue choke)

170 lbs.: Kelvin Gastelum vs. Rick Story

Round 1: Story on offense right away, lands a good left downstairs. Story with a pair of hooks, Gastelum with a stiff jab. Another stiff jab lands. Story with a right to the body. Heavy right hook. Story low kick. Left cross by Gastleum. Ninety seconds in. Kelvin lands a short right hook. Story with a jab of his own. Story moves Gastelum to the cage and they trade big shots to the head and body. Gastelum backs him off with a hard cross. Gastelum takes Story's legs out from under him with a head kick and Story stumbles to the ground with Gastelum on top of him dropping punches. Story manages to tie up and get his wits back. Gastelum winds up in side control and they have a crazy scramble back to their feet. Good jab by Gastelum with ninety seconds left. Counter right from Kelvin. Big 3-2 by Kelvin with a minute left. Low kick by Kelvin. Round ends without much action in the last minute. 10-9 Gastelum.

Round 2: Story moves in with a flurry, a right to the body landing. Kelvin narrowly avoids a hard combo. Right hook and left to the body from Story. Stiff jab by Kelvin. Inside low kick. Another good jab. Story falls short with wide punches. Ninety seconds in. Low kicks from Gastelum and he avoids a flurry. Good 3-2 by Kelvin once again. Inside low kick. Halfway through the round. Story catches a low kick, slams home a pair of body punches. Body kick next. Story counters a 1-2 with more body shots. Counter left from Rick. Lead right hook connects. Story with a body kick. Kelvin lands a right hook. Big one-two from Gastelum. Right hook-left hook by Kelvin. Double jab lands. Story answers in kind. Stiff jab and one-two by Kelvin. Story with a leg kick himself with thirty seconds left. Big left by Story rattles Gastelum and they trade like crazy against the cage. Down goes Gastelum in the waning seconds and Story ends the round dropping big punches. Gastelum manages to survive somehow. 10-9 Story.

Round 3: Story opens with a leg kick. Long left hand connects. Another low kick lands. Body kick this time. Kelvin lands a low kick. Minute in. Stiff jab from Kelvin met by a leg kick. Story shoots in on a double leg and gets Gastelum against the cage. Gastelum drops a couple elbows and reverse position. Knees to the body form Kelvin and they separate about two minutes in. Nice left cross from Kelvin and another. Story fires off a big left hand and gets taken down for his trouble. Gastelum moves to his back as he tries to get up. Rick bucks him off and now he's got Kelvin's back halfway through the round. Both hooks in for Story. Story looking for the choke, makes the sin of crossing his feet but Kelvin doesn't notice. Minute to go and Rick continues to hold the position. Kelvin peels off a hook and spins into guard with forty seconds to go. Story rises with a takedown attempt and is denied. Gastelum presses forward, both men trading big shots. They end the fight swinging for the fences. Good scrap. 10-9 Story.

Final result: Gastelum def. Story by split decision

135 lbs.: Jessica Andrade vs. Raquel Pennington

Round 1: Andrade blitzes, can't connect. Pennington catches her with a right and lands a good knee to the body defending a takedown. Knee to the head, Andrade responds by digging to the body and pressing her into the cage. Andrade with some short knees and punches as Pennington tries to lock up a guillotine. Andrade pops out of the headlock and Pennington reverses her in the clinch. Andrade back on the outside, but eats some knees. Andrade hits a gorgeous throw two minutes in. Andrade on top in half guard. Pennington regains guard quickly. Small slam by Andrade. Pennington wall walks back to her feet, only for Andrade to hit the exact same throw. Andrade with short punches to the body. Pennington has the underhook on the correct side and gets to guard. Andrade standing over her, drops a good right hand. She leaves it in too long and Pennington grabs an armbar. Andrade extricates her arm and goes into side control.Pennington rolls for turtle and Andrade grabs a guillotine. Pennington rolls out and they move into the clinch against the cage. Andrade nearly hits the throw once again but they end the round against the fence. 10-9 Andrade.

Round 2: Leg kick by Pennington. Andrade presses forward with hooks, gets reversed against the cage. Pennington gets the plum, knees the body. Andrade reverses and tries to throw her, settles for landing some hooks. One-two from Pennington after separating. Andrade shoots in at 3:40 and secures a takedown. Andrade picks her up for a slam and Pennington uses the chance to stand. Pennington bounces some punches off of Andrade's guard. Good leg kick from Andrade. Right cross connects and Pennington gets the Thai plum. Knees from Pennington. Stiff jab after Andrade gets out. Pennington lands a leg kick, takes a right. Pennington moving well and countering. Andrade connects with hooks and they trade some powerful punches against the cage. Andrade ties up and Pennington lands some knees to the body. Pennington makes room and gets out. 3-2 from Pennington. Stiff jab and one-two as Andrade advances. Another one after eating a right from Andrade. Andrade relentless in her pursuit and giving as good as she takes. Pennington gets the plum but Andrade presses her into the cage. Pennington locks up a very tight guillotine with twenty seconds to go; Andrade pops out just after the ten-second clap and hops up for one of her own. Nothing doing, round ends. 10-9 Pennington.

Round 3: Andrade continues forward, takes a counter hook. Good one-two from Pennington. Leg kick lands. Good left hook by Andrade. Pennington with a counter hook as she circles off. Good uppercut. Pennington countering well as she circles. Clinch against the cage, knees to the body from both a minute in. Andrade slams some hooks around the guard as Pennington exits. Good flurry from both. Andrade stalking forward and eating counters as she does so. Good right from Pennington. Another heavy exchange against the cage two minutes in. Stiff right by Pennington. Back into the clinch. Nice knee by Pennington, whose back is against the cage. They separate, Andrade relentlessly punching. Knees from the plum by Pennington, Andrade tries to counter to the body. Good right from Pennington after exiting the clinch. Pennington stops a takedown with ninety seconds to go and clocks her with a cross as she gets distance. 2-3 by Pennington. Andrade gets a chance to tee off once again. Minute to go, back to the clinch. Pennington gets standing back control and wrangles Andrade down briefly. Andrade gets up, gets slammed down with thirty to go. Again she rises; Pennington has the body lock. Pennington smacks her with a sequence of hard punches before the bell. 10-9 Pennington.

Round 1: Bermudez lands an overhand right early. Low kicks land, Hettes high kick blocked. Hettes gets the clinch thirty seconds in, but Bermudez gets underhooks and presses him against the fence. More jockeying for position against the cage. Hettes tries a knee to the head that Bermudez uses to pick him up and take him down. Hettes makes it to his feet quickly and they separate. Back to the clinch ninety seconds in, Bermudez pressing him against the cage. Outside trip succeeds for Bermudez, again Hettes is not down long. Good right and left hook by Hettes. Bermudez slams him down and lands some big right hooks. Bermudez basically tosses Hettes into the air in an impressive show of strength. Hettes avoids a subsequent takedown attempt and they stand again. Again into the clinch, Bermudez still in control.Short elbow by Bermudez, Hettes answers a right with a left straight. Left by Bermudez ninety seconds in. Striking in the clinch, Bermudez changes levels and tosses him down into side control. Hettes back to guard quickly. Bermudez using the can opener, Hettes controlling posture well. Hettes makes it to his feet but eats a big knee to the body. Bermudez ends the round with a guillotine attempt. 10-9 Bermudez.

Round 2: Right to the body from Bermudez. He bullies his way into the clinch once more. Knee to the head and a rapid punching exchange before Bermudez locks up again. Bermudez nearly gets him down but settles for a knee up top. Minute in. Hettes narrowly misses with a knee but reverses position. Hettes avoids a single leg and lands a good knee upstairs before they tie up once again at the opposite end of the cage. Bermudez pressing him into the fence. Good knees from both. Hettes briefly has dominant position but flubs a throw. Good knee from Bermudez and inside low kick. A stiff left knocks Hettes' mouthpiece out and he hits the deck. Bermudez dropping hard punches from side control. Two minutes to go. Hettes back to guard. Bermudez postures up and lands some right hands. Hettes out the back door. Fight pauses to put Hettes' mouth piece back in and they re-engage. Bermudez hits a double leg once again. Odd position with a minute to go, Bermudez sitting on Hettes' face. Back to their feet. Bermudez tries a sacrifice throw and winds up giving up his back. Hettes with a hook in against the cage. Now body triangle. Hettes trying to soften him up but runs out of time, Bermudez escaping just before the bell. 10-9 Bermudez.

Round 3: Right to the body to start. Left hook to leg kick to takedown attempt for Bermudez. Working against the fence, Bermudez pressing Hettes. They separate. Hettes initiates the clinch and lands a good knee, only to get dropped by a right from Bermudez. Bermudez establishes in Hettes' guard. Bermudez posturing and keeping Hettes against the cage as he drops ground-and pound. Hettes trying to invert to no avail but manages to retain guard. Two minutes in and Bermudez comfortable on top of Hettes. Good punches from Dennis, but he elects to let Jimy up. Hard low kick from Bermudez, who sprawls on a single. Trevino back up and they jockey briefly before separating. Right hook by Trevino. Counter right by Trevino followed by an exchange of lead rights. Trevino stalking forward throwing heavy. Short right hook lands and a powerful low kick. Halfway through the round. Another good right. Forte fires a body kick. Trevino low kick. Forte has slowed down considerably. Side kick to the body from Trevino. Forte whiffs on a left hook but capitalizes on Trevino's aggression to take him down into guard. Trevino throws some elbows off his back. Round 3: Counter right hook by Trevino backs Forte off, after which he lands some solid punches. Big body kick and punch. Renee charges after him; Trevino catches a kick and stands over him. Forte manages to stand, but Trevino takes him down against the cage. Forte back up a minute in. Trevino pressing him against the cage and lands a spinning back elbow against the cage. Forte hits a double, Trevino rises but Renee has the rear waistlock. Trevino reverse position against the cage and changes levels for a double leg. Forte looking for a Kimura. Trevino gets the rear waistlock and pushes Forte against the cage, landing knees to the thighs. Good elbow as they separate. Trevino with a good punching combo. Round 2: Campuzano one-two falls short, low kick does not. Counter left straight form Scoggins. Hook kick attempt. Inside low kick connects. Campuzano narrowly misses with a counter right after a Scoggins one-two. Will blocks a head kick and a subsequent hook kick. Scoggins finishes a single leg but winds up in a deep guillotine ninety seconds in. Scoggins works his way into opposite-side half guard and Will releases it. Elbow from his back. Campuzano works back to butterfly guard halfway through the round. More elbows. Will tries to turn into him and gives up turtle position. Good Granby roll by Campuzano back to guard. Hard right hand from Scoggins. 1:15 left. Back to turtle and this time Scoggins gets a hook in. Will denies the back take and surrenders half guard. Campuzano uses an attempt to mount to stand with thirty seconds left. Short right from Will. Scoggins counters a lazy left with a sequence of strong hooks from the same hand before the bell. 10-9 Scoggins.

Round 3: Scoggins flicks out his lead leg. Campuzano counters a takedown attempt with a knee to the body. Campuzano highly aggressive but winds up giving up the takedown. Scoggins mounts him forty seconds in. Campuzano regains guard but gets blasted with a series of hard punches. He gives up turtle position. Scoggins drops some more shots before Will gives up side control. Back to turtle. Good right hands from Justin as Campuzano scoots towards the fence. Will ducks in and finishes a double as he tries to stand. Short left hands from half guard. Will regains open guard, takes another left hand. Butterfly guard. 1:45 to go; Scoggins denying Will's attempts to wall-walk. Back to turtle and a heavy knee to the ribs from Scoggins. Another powerful takedown by the youngster and this time he brings Campuzano down well away from the fence. More ground-and-pound. Big right hands. Elbows; Justin working him over from half guard. Campuzano tries to use butterfly hooks to stand, no success. Justin ends the fight dropping good shots. 10-8 Scoggins.

Round 1: Big right hand by Strickland after catching a body kick. McDaniel with a leg kick. Bubba tries a punching flurry and comes up short with a head kick.

As an aside, Bubba's shorts say "Bubbasaur". Somebody better get finished so I can make a "super effective" joke.

Strickland counters a rush with a right hook. Bubba enters with a big overhand left, lifts Strickland, and takes him down briefly. More jockeying in the clinch, Bubba pressing Strickland. Strickland reverses it and manages to rip Bubba down against the cage. Bubba tries to rise with a takedown, gets sprawled on. Strickland takes top position in half guard. Strickland dropping elbows and keeping Bubba flat. Nice right as Bubba tries to stand. Strickland punishing Bubba every time he tries to get up. Ninety seconds left. Bubba trying to sit out and Strickland drops some heavy bombs on him for his trouble. Bubba gives up his back as he tries to roll out and Strickland locks in the RNC immediately. Impressive.

Round 1: Inside low kick from Whiteford starts it off. He rushes in with a left and right, lands the latter. Good uppercut from Whiteford. A minute in and Pineda lands a hard body kick. Some skirmishing in the clinch, Whiteford pressijng him against the fence with double underhooks. Short knees to the legs and bodies. Whiteford working for a trip, Pineda defending well but still taking sporadic knees to the body. Whiteford gets him down a little before the halfway point. Pineda back up, Whiteford lifts him up and takes him down into side control. Pineda scoots to the wall and rises, still in Whiteford's grip. More knees from the Scotsman. Ref breaks them up with 1:40 left. Pineda whiffs on a lead uppercut. Nice combination from Whiteford. Left to the body by the Scot, who denies a takedown. Low kick from Pineda, who takes a pair of lefts up top. Sneaky lead left connects for Whiteford with around thirty to go. Pineda avoids a head kick. Pineda tries to rush him before the bell, nothing connects and he looks a bit winded. 10-9 Whiteford.

Round 2: Whiteford shoots in the first five seconds and gets him down. Pineda using open guard. Whiteford with short punches and elbows. He stands over him and Pineda rises, taking dominant position against the fence. 90 seconds in. Pineda working for a takedown takes him down. He tries to get a hook in as Whiteford scrambles up, can't keep it, and they split. Whiteford follows a straight with a right uppercut. Whiteford rattles him with a left high kick; Whiteford tries to press it and is met with a flurry that backs him off. Pineda cut by the kick. Pineda posturing, stops a takedown, and eats the same head kick. Whiteford eats a right hand and uses it to wrangle Pineda down. Pineda back up, Whiteford with a rear waistlock. Pineda rolls for a kneebar; it looks a bit sloppy and Whiteford plays to the crowd before moving into side control. PIneda scoots to the fence, eats a knee to the body. Three-point stance to avoid a knee, Whiteford throws one as Pineda exits and they go back to center cage with twenty seconds left. Whiteford ends the round retreating. 10-9 Whiteford.

Round 3: Pineda stalking forward, throws an ill-advised stepping knee and gets taken down right off the bout. Pineda works to guard. A minute in and Whiteford has yet to open up. Pineda firing elbows from his back. Whiteford finally throws a punch 90 seconds in. Ref stands them up soon after. Whiteford shoots in right away, Pineda avoids it and teases a single of his own. Whiteford seemingly in retreat. He ducks a spinning backfist into a takedown attempt and Pineda rolls for a dangerous-looking kneebar. Whiteford avoids it, gets up, and takes him down at the midpoint of the round. Pineda trying to play deep half guard. Back to full and Pineda threatens with a triangle. Whiteford uses it to go to side control. Minute to go, ref stands them up after Whiteford is reticent to throw. Whiteford bulls forward with a takedown and is easily rebuffed, getting put on his back. Thirty seconds to go, Pineda on top in half guard. Pineda elbowing the knees.
