Wanderlei Silva ruined Cung Le's Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut at UFC 139 two years ago by knocking him out in the second round, thanks to his infamous Muay Thai game.
And Le, for one, would love to get a chance to run it back one more time against "The Axe Murderer."
Appearing on a recent edition of "The MMA Hour," Le says that should Chael Sonnen -- for whatever reason -- be forced to bow out of his scheduled fight against Silva on May 31, 2014, then he'll gladly throw his hat into the cage as a late replacement.
His words:
"If Chael gets hurt, or decides that he's not ready for the Wanderlei fight, I'll throw in my hat. I would love another shot. I have a lot of respect for him. I grew up watching all of his fights in PRIDE. And to fight him, I feel like I didn't fight a good fight and I know I can do a lot better."
Indeed, Sonnen recently revealed that due to the ban on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), he might have to stop competing in mixed martial arts (MMA) if he can't find another way to get his testosterone levels to a healthy number.
Le, meanwhile, hasn't stepped foot inside the Octagon since knocking out Rich Franklin in late 2012 in the very first round at UFC on Fuel TV 6 (highlights). The win was his second straight since losing to "The Axe Murderer" in San Jose, California.
Anyone care to see a rematch between these two powerful strikers? If it does eventually happen, who takes it?
