World MMA awards? Pffffft. Vitor Belfort has bigger fish to fry.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight number one contender was honored with a Sport Science Award this past weekend in Burbank, California, as the good folks at ESPN recognized him for his stunning head-kick knockout over Luke Rockhold (watch it).

"The Phenom" shares his joy (and his photo) on Instagram:

Thank you so much for honoring me with this award. I want to give all the glory to God, because the truth is, Jesus is not just part of my life, or first place in my life, He IS my life. I would be nothing without Christ. And I want to thank Him for the amazing people He has surrounded me with: My family Coaches Sponsors Fans Spiritual family You are God's greatest gifts to me, and this award is ours together. Finally, I want to share one of my favorite scriptures from the Bible with you. It's in the book of Joshua, where Caleb, who is at the end of his military career says: "Just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war." This is our strongest day, and with God's help, I believe our greatest victories are ahead of us. Thank you.

No Vitor, thank you.

His destruction of Rockhold was sandwiched between two other sensation knockouts, the first being Michael Bisping and the last being Dan Henderson. His hat trick not only revitalized his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, but also earned him a shot at the division title, currently held by Chris Weidman, in the main event of UFC 173 (see their staredown here).

Can the Brazilian make it four in a row?
