After two long years of sitting on the sidelines because of injuries, Thiago Alves is set to make his return to the Octagon.
According to Mike Chiappetta, the former No. 1-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight contender will face Seth Baczynski at UFC on FOX 11, which goes down at Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., on April 19, 2014.
"Pitbull" was last seen getting submitted by Martin Kampmann at UFC on FX 2 way back in March 2012. Prior to that, Alves defeated Papy Abedi at UFC 138 in 2011. A string of injuries, however, have forced the American Top Team (ATT)-trained fighter to ride the pine for the past 24 months.
Baczynski, meanwhile, ended his two-fight losing skid at UFC Fight Night 31: "Fight for Troops 3" in Nov. 2013, defeating Neil Magny via unanimous decision.
Can Thiago fight off the ring rust and return to his head hunting -- and winning -- ways against "The Polish Pistola?"
UFC on FOX 11 features a Heavyweight No. 1 contender title eliminator match between Fabricio Werdum and Travis Browne. In addition, Miesha Tate will battles Liz Carmouche, while Donald Cerrone collides Edson Barboza in Lightweight action.
