Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has reworked one of its featherweight match-ups slated for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 36: "Machida vs. Mousasi" event, scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2014 on FOX Sports 1 from Arena Jaragua in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
You can thank Thiago Tavares for that.
The Brazilian was forced to withdraw from his 145-pound debut after suffering a broken rib, and will be replaced by undefeated division prospect Douglas Silva, who will make his first trip to the Octagon against Russian import Zubair Tuhugov, according to Combate (via MMA Fighting).
Silva is perfect through 22 fights with a frightening 19 finishes, with 18 of those coming by way knockout or technical knockout. Tuhugov, meanwhile, compiled a 15-3 professional mixed martial arts (MMA) record on the international circuit, but has gone to the scorecards in nine appearances.
Styles make fights!
UFC Fight Night 36 will be headlined by a middleweight main event pitting former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida opposite ex-Strikeforce 205-pound titleholder Gegard Mousasi. In the co-main event, Ronaldo Souza takes one step closer to a division title shot at the expense of Francis Carmont.
