And then there were eight.
Less than a week after The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "China" Finale was hit with a major injury, forcing the cancelation of the Yang Jianping vs. Ning Guangyou featherweight tournament final (details), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has been forced to scrap the welterweight affair featuring Zak Cummings vs. Alberto Mina.
Cummings missed weight by a whopping eight pounds (see the results here).
"It sucks when guys come in and don't make weight," said UFC President Dana White (via MMA Junkie). "They have one job: to get ready for the fight, train and make weight. That's definitely a career killer."
Following Cummings' scale-tipping snafu, Mina was advised by his coaches to refuse a 178-pound catchweight bout and will instead collect both his show and win money. As a result, tomorrow's (March 1, 2014) TUF: "China" Finale in Macau is now down to just eight bouts.
