Broncos vs Seahawks Super Bowl score 2014: Live play-by-play updates and results, 2nd Quarter

Super Bowl XLVIII is well underway tonight (Sun., Feb. 2, 2014) from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, featuring the AFC Champion Denver Broncos taking on the NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks.

SUPER BOWL XLVIII SECOND QUARTER PLAY-BY-PLAY, LIVE BLOG:

Super Bowl 48 score to start second quarter:

Denver - 0
Seattle - 8

Seattle ball on the Denver 17 yard line.

2nd and 5: Marshawn Lynch scratched and clawed his way to a five yard gain and a first down.
1st and 10: Lynch got it again, this time off the right side but he was bottled up in a hurry. He lost one yard on the play.
2nd and 11: Russell Wilson fired a pass to Doug Baldwin for a gain of seven up inside the 10 yard line.
3rd and 4: Wilson scrambled and threw for Golden Tate incomplete but the Broncos defender was called for pass interference. Because the foul occurred in the end zone, the ball is placed at the one yard line. 
1st and Goal: Lynch got the carry and he pushed forward but fell shy at the half yard line.
2nd and Goal: Lynch got it again and this time he broke through the line for the score.

Denver - 0
Seattle - 15

The ensuing kickoff was returned for just 17 yards.

Denver ball on their own 16 yard line.

1st and 10: Demaryius Thomas caught a quick screen for six yard.
2nd and 4: Thomas got another screen on the other side, gained a couple more.
3rd and 1: Knowshon Moreno ran a quick one inside for the first down, the first one of the game for Denver with just over 10 minutes to go in the second quarter.
1st and 10: Manning found D. Thomas for a gain of seven on an inside slant.
2nd and 3: Moreno took another inside handoff and he got right to the marker.
3rd and 1: A quick screen to D. Thomas went for just a yard, but it was enough for the first down. Denver has to fight for every inch.
1st and 10: Manning took a shot to D. Thomas but overthrew him.
2nd and 10: Montee Ball got some action on a halfback screen but he gained just a yard before the Seattle defensive line collapsed on him.
3rd and 9: Seattle blitzed but Manning got it away to Wes Welker for a big first down right before it got home. 
1st and 10: Yet another quick screen to D. Thomas goes for just over nine yards.
2nd and Inches: An inside handoff to Ball went for a short loss.
3rd and 1: Ball got another inside handoff and this time he pushed past the marker for a first down, gaining only a yard.
1st and 10: Manning threw the ball away after scrambling to the outside but Denver was called for tripping. No play, 10 yard penalty.
1st and 20: They ran a screen for Jacob Tamme, the back-up tight end, and he was destroyed for a loss of a couple.
2nd and 22: Moreno finally found some running room on yet another inside handoff, picking up nine yards.
3rd and 13: Manning had a ball tipped into the air and intercepted by Malcolm Smith. It was run back all the way for a touchdown.

Denver - 0
Seattle - 22

The ensuing kickoff was returned out up across the 35 yard line but Trindon Holliday fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Seahawks. The replay showed that he was down by contact.

Denver ball on their own 33 yard line.

1st and 10: Manning found Julius Thomas underneath for a gain of five across the middle.
2nd and 5: Manning overthrew Eric Decker near the sideline for an incomplete pass.
3rd and 5: D. Thomas made a great play on a jump ball from Manning to the back shoulder.
1st and 10: Manning found Wes Welker for a gain of five in the middle of the field.
2nd and 5: J. Thomas was wide open in the same spot as Welker, picking up another first down.

TWO MINUTE WARNING

1st and 10: Manning went downfield for J. Thomas but he couldn't get away from Earl Thomas. Incomplete, no flag on the play.
2nd and 10: A quick screen to Moreno went for six yards off the right side.
3rd and 4: No play. False start on the offense, five yard penalty.
3rd and 9: Manning had to scramble and went across his body to Moreno a couple yards shy of the first down marker. 
4th and 2: They went for it and Manning had his pass fall incomplete.

Seattle ball at their own 19 yard line.

1st and 10: Lynch ran up the gut for a gain of four.
2nd and 6: Seattle went into a hurry up and handed off to Lynch, who gained just two yards. That turned out to be the last play of the first half.
