Takenori Sato made his Octagon debut tonight (Sat., Feb. 15, 2014) on the main card of the UFC Fight Night 36: "Machida vs. Mousasi" event from Arena Jaragua in Brazil in a welterweight match-up against the talented but inconsistent Erick Silva.
He got beat up really quickly.
This was a glorified squash match, so thoroughly dominated by the Brazilian that one wonders why it was ever booked in the first place. Oh, that's right, injury forced the UFC's proverbial hand.
Still, wow.
Sato was lit up right away with a body kick and his response was to grab a single leg and hang on for dear life. Silva, hands completely free to wail away at his opponent's head, unloaded a barrage of punches that forced the referee to save Sato from taking too much damage.
There you go.
