Ben Henderson may have to do some backtracking pretty soon.
After Rustam Khabilov politely asked for a fight against the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion of the world (via Twitter) "Smooth" was quick to accept.
The only problem is, it seems Benson thought he was accepting a challenge from another top Russian fighter in Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Check it out (via Bloody Elbow):
@KhabilovMMA @ufc @danawhite seems like no 1 wants to play with u buddy (mysteriously), well I'll be ur huckleberry...I'll be ready by June

Indeed, "The Eagle" had trouble finding opponents lately as both Gilbert Melendez and Nate Diaz declined fights against the fiery lightweight.
Benson, however, isn't the first combatant to get confused with Russian names. Rafael dos Anjos thought he too, was accepting a fight against Khabib for UFC 170. In reality, Dos Anjos signed on the dotted line to face the aforementioned Khabilov.
In the end, Dos Anjos got his man after Khabilov came down with an injury and Khabib agreed to face Rafael at UFC on FOX 11 on April 19. Though Benson has yet to sign on the dotted line, he might have to find a way out of his verbal agreement with Khabilov.
Or he could just go ahead and accept the fight. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
