Video: Dana White admits to writing Lyoto Machida a personal check for beating Tito Ortiz at UFC 84

That explains those new kicks at the post-fight presser.

"The only time in 13 years, all the fights we've ever done, Lyoto Machida beat Tito Ortiz. I actually wrote him a personal check. UFC, we will pay him his win money, his show money. If he wins one of the bonuses of the night, he gets a bonus. I literally bonus'd him myself."

How much does Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White dislike former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz? Enough that he was willing to reward Lyoto Machida with a special "White of the Night" bonus, which came in the form of a personal check for an undisclosed sum. "The Dragon" was able to outpoint "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" on the main card of UFC 84 -- aptly named "Ill Will" -- back in May 2008, when the "Machida Era" was still a real thing. Then again, history can repeat itself this Saturday night (Feb. 15, 2014) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 36 (results), if the Brazilian can get past Strikeforce import Gegard Mousasi. He likely won't get any personal checks for that win, but no matter, as an even bigger prize awaits.
