UFC rankings updated after UFC 181: Johny Hendricks still better than Rory MacDonald

New, 34 comments

Unfortunately for "Red King," he is still one spot behind Hendricks in the eyes of the voters, despite the fact that "Bigg Rigg" coughed up the welterweight title to Robbie Lawler.

The official Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) rankings have been updated following UFC 181, which went down this past weekend (Sat., Dec. 6, 2014) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Get full results here.

Anthony Pettis was successful in his first-ever lightweight title defense, as he choked out Gilbert Melendez in the second round of their co-main event championship fight (full highlights). As a result, "El Nino" dropped down a spot to No. 2, making way for Khabib Nurmagomedov to solidify himself as the next contender at No. 1.

Bring it!

In the welterweight division, Johny Hendricks coughed up his title to Robbie Lawler after five rounds of action (video), who now sits atop the 170-pound mountain while "Bigg Rigg" sits close behind at No. 1.

Elsewhere, the pound-for-pound rankings had plenty of movement including, you guessed it, Ronda Rousey and Anderson Silva exchanging spots for the third straight time.

Here's what the rest of the field looks like courtesy of UFC.com. Note: (+/- = movement in rankings, *NR = Not previously ranked).

Might be time for that "ethical" overhaul.

You can expect these numbers to change rather quickly, as UFC on FOX 13: "Dos Santos vs. Miocic" goes down this weekend (Sat., Dec. 13, 2014) in Phoenix, Arizona. To check out that entire fight card and line up click here.
