Mark Striegl signs with ONE FC, set to debut in early 2015

Bibiano Fernandes might have prolonged his status as ONE FC 135-pound champion by submitting Dae Hwan Kim last Friday (results here), but the Brazilian could soon have a new challenger in the shape of Filipino bantamweight Mark Striegl, who put pen to paper on a ONE FC contract just last week.

Striegl (13-1) has enjoyed success with numerous promotions in the region including PXC, URCC, Legend FC and Pro FC and was one of the most eligible free agents on the market with the 26 year old previously tipped to sign with either ONE FC or UFC.

In the end, ONE FC won the race for the signature of the prospect who has previously been based in Baguio but recently joined the Evolve MMA fight team and will be conducting all his future training camps in Singapore. Striegl will be looking to become the second Filipino to win a title with Asia's biggest MMA organization and has confirmed he intends to continue competing at 135 pounds.

Striegl has a significant fan following in Manila after successful spells with local promotions PXC and URCC and will be relishing the prospect of potentially fighting at the 20,000 capacity SM Mall of Asia Arena next year with his ONE FC debut currently scheduled for early 2015.
