Both Brendan Schaub and Travis Browne were trying to recover from losses when they collided in the cage at tonight's (Sat., Dec. 6, 2014) UFC 181: "Hendricks vs. Lawler 2" pay-per-view (PPV) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Viva Hapa!
It looked like an evenly matched heavyweight showcase for the first few minutes. Then Browne connected clean on a huge uppercut that floored "Big Brown." Although Schaub survived the initial follow up, "Hapa" jumped all over him and used the advantage of a rocked opponent to transition to half guard, then full mount, then back control.
After a series of punches went unanswered, at least to the referee's liking, the bout was called.
Schaub protested, but he was taking a number of hard punches while simply waiting out the round. With some 10 seconds remaining, the safe call was made.
