It was all but guaranteed Erick Silva would return to form following a loss on the main card of tonight's (Sat., Dec. 20, 2014) UFC Fight Night 58: "Machida vs. Dollaway" event in Barueri, Brazil. That's because he was tasked with taking on Mike Rhodes, a former RFA champion who lost both his bouts inside the Octagon.
That was likely the idea.
Sure enough, the Brazilian came out firing away. In response, Rhodes rushed in and found himself working for a guillotine. It was never tight or anywhere close to earning him anything resembling a finish. Actually, it wasn't long until Silva had popped his head out, passed to side control, found a submission of his own, and quickly finished the fight with an arm triangle.
He put Rhodes to sleep.
Just like that.
