The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20 Finale medical suspensions have been released for those athletes competing at the FOX Sports 1-televised event last weekend (Fri., Dec. 12, 2014) from inside Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, courtesy of Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
Strawweight contestant Heather Clark, who made her UFC debut a successful one by turning away Bec Rawlings, could be out of action for up to six months for a possible eye injury. Not that it matters, as "Hurricane" announced on Twitter that she was headed for ACL surgery and will be on the shelf for at least the first half of 2015.
That's not all.
Here is the complete list of TUF 20 Finale injuries and medical suspensions (via MMA Junkie):
Yancy Medeiros: Must have left third toe X-rayed; if positive, then must have doctor clearance or no contest until June 12
Heather Jo Clark: Must have left orbital fracture cleared by ophthalmologist or no contest until June 12; minimum suspension until Feb. 11 with no contact until Jan. 27
Daron Cruickshank: Must have ophthalmologist clearance before next fight; minimum suspension until Feb. 11 with no contact before Jan. 27
Randa Markos: Suspended until Feb. 11 with no contact until Jan. 17 due to right and left eyelid lacerations
Emily Kagan: Suspended until Feb. 11 with no contact until Jan. 3 due to right eyebrow lacerations
Rose Namajunas: Suspended until Jan. 12 with no contact before Dec. 28
Lisa Ellis: Suspended until Jan. 12 with no contact before Dec. 28
Seo Hee Ham: Suspended until Jan. 12 with no contact before Dec. 28
Tecia Torres: Suspended until Jan. 12 with no contact before Jan. 3
Alex Chambers: Suspended until Jan. 12 with no contact before Dec. 28
Cruickshank also had surgery for a busted tear duct (pic).
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
