When Invicta FC featherweight champion Cristiane Justino was spotted at the UFC on FOX 13 event last Saturday night (Dec. 13, 2014), the mixed martial arts (MMA) community speculated that "Cyborg" was perhaps in negotiations to (finally) fight Ronda Rousey.
Yeah, no.
"I will not fight anymore in the bantamweight (division), just in my weight or weight married to the fight that everyone expects," Justino told Damma De Ferro. "I believe that the sacrifice has to be on both sides, because we are two champions, just different weights. For my next fight will have a major change. I'll bring the Renato 'Babalu' Sobral to track my workouts."
So close ... yet so far.
Justino (12-1, 1 NC) has been out of the cage for over a year. She was expected to make her 135-pound debut earlier this month, but was bounced from her Invicta return after suffering an ankle injury (more on that here). A date and opponent have yet to be revealed for her next fight.
Any suggestions?
