Once again, Dos Santos attacked the boy. Miocic again established that he would be in the center of the cage pressing ahead. Junior tried to make him pay with an overhand right slipped over the top but missed.
Still, despite a badly swollen face and sure fatigue, Junior remained active. For his part, Stipe was dragging. Halfway through, he was being outlanded 27-11 in significant strikes.
The pace was incredibly slow, both guys seemingly looking for the big shot. Miocic came in with right hands and landed some three in a row, the last of which forced a clinch against the fence.
With one minute remaining, the crowd got to their feet anticipating a furious finish. Sure enough, Miocic came in with shots. Dos Santos managed to push away and land a hard right breaking free. Miocic landed a big right. Dos Santos closed with a knee to the body.
The horn sounded, both combatants bloody and tired, both with their arms raised.
But who would the judges score in favor of?
