Dos Santos went to the body early here, while Stipe pushed ahead and forced him to circle away. This time, Miocic landed a takedown within the first minute but in the process of doing so gave up his back.
He managed to transition out rather quickly, however, and they were back on their feet breathing heavy not long after.
The Brazilian went with a jab and then a straight right to the body. He was working the body quite a bit. Miocic continued moving forward despite it and "JDS" used the opening to land a hard shot that put Stipe on the mat. The furious rush of punches that followed did not earn a finish.
Miocic was bloody too now, though.
Stipe went back to his wrestling after the knockdown, but the former champ stuffed yet another takedown attempt. The momentum had swung back in favor of Dos Santos, and he closed the round strong with punches Miocic had no answer for.
