Video: Jamie Varner retires from MMA following UFC on FOX 13 submission loss to Drew Dober

"I had planned this a long time ago. I knew this was going to be my last fight. I can't keep up with these young kids anymore. I'm battling injuries all the time. My hat's off to Drew, he came in, hostile territory, and fought his ass off. It's been an absolute dream. I've been fighting a long time. It's been a dream. I own a gym, I've done things I never thought I could do."

-- After more than one decade in combat sports, former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) lightweight champion Jamie Varner is hanging up his mixed martial arts (MMA) gloves following a submission loss to Drew Dober at the UFC on FOX 13 event on Saturday night (Dec. 13, 2014) in Phoenix, Arizona (more on that here). Varner, 30, dropped four in a row and five of his last six, and finishes with a record of 21-11-1 with two No Contests. "C-4" is perhaps best known for his wars against Ben Henderson and Donald Cerrone, among others, back in the WEC days.
